Plans are in full swing for the Greene County Quilt Show Aug. 5-7 at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds. Vendors, demonstrators, concessions, and quilt racks are accounted for. What is still needed is quilts.
All area quilters are reminded that the deadline for entering quilts is Saturday, July 2 (postmark).
Quilts can be entered in any of five categories: bed size (twin, full, queen or king); baby, lap, or throw quilt; wall hanging; miniature (measure less than 24 inches on any one side with overall pattern proportionate); table décor, miscellaneous; and wearables or accessories.
Each exhibitor is invited to submit up to five entries. Entries will not be judged as the goal of the show is to showcase the talents of both novice and experienced quilters.
Quilters should plan to deliver their quilts to Clover Hall Aug. 2 or Aug. 3 between 12 and 6 pm. Quilts can be picked up Sunday, Aug. 7, at 5 pm.
The Greene County Quilt Show is sponsored by the Greene County Chamber of Commerce and the Greene County Fair Association, with guidance and leadership from Suzanne Sievers of the Stitch.
The Heart of the Lincoln Highway Quilt Show hosted by the Greene County Medical Center Foundation years ago showed how much interest there is in quilting in west central Iowa. The Greene County Quilt Show, intended to be a biennial event, seeks to welcome back those quilt enthusiasts and more.
Registration forms are available on the Greene County Chamber website, www.greenecountyiowa.com under the Tourism/Events tab. Persons who would like more information can call the Chamber office at 515-386-2155.
